Ali Certain

Ali’s first introduction to yoga was as a young girl who frequently found her mother seated in meditation. Looking back, this anchor and form of self-care was one of the greatest lessons she passed along to Ali as a mother of 3 and a child with chronic kidney disease. Ali’s first yoga class in 1997 sparked a curiosity and unexpectedly blew open the doors of her Heart. After 8 years, Ali traded in her corporate hat for her yoga mat, and began her formal study of asana, pranayama, yoga therapeutics, and tantric philosophy with John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga. It was in this community that she was introduced to Desirée Rumbaugh, Noah Mazé, and other esteemed teachers who fueled her desire to delve deeper. Ali began teaching yoga in 2004 and hosting yoga workshops with these internationally recognized teachers to foster community and help raise the vibration of yoga in the Twin Cities.
Following the birth of her three children, Ali collectively gave birth to a yoga studio with the support of her students and a shared vision held by three other passionate and spirit-filled women. Now, Ali currently teaches at various studios in Mpls and finds her deepest work, inspiration, and insight to be embedded in the trenches of everyday life.
Ali is certified in Anusara Yoga but by choice no longer licensed. Ali merges the teachings of being an embodied awake human, motherhood, her formal yoga training, and time spent in the classroom and India with Dr. Douglas Brooks. Ali is known for cultivating a welcoming, supportive, and engaging environment. Infused with tales from everyday life, Ali weaves precise physical instruction and practical application of yoga philosophy into her classes. For more information: alicertain.com
