Karna Oliphant

Karna’s love for the ancient system of yoga began in 1996 while attending yoga classes with a friend. It wasn’t until she was introduced to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois’s Ashtanga Yoga that she truly felt a deep connection. At first a physical form for her, with attention and commitment, she has discovered yoga to be a multi-layered method of self-exploration.
Karna’s training began under the guidance of Master Yoga Instructor Monique Maxwell to earn her Instructor Certification in Ashtanga Yoga in 2002. Since then she has had the opportunity to add to her knowledge of yoga and its philosophies by receiving additional training from many wonderful teachers including Rod Stryker, Judith Hanson Lasater, David Garrigues, Richard Freeman, and Seane Corn.
Karna’s teaching method is attentive and encouraging. She has the ability to work with practitioners of all levels in a light-hearted, compassionate manner, making her sessions both accessible and challenging. She teaches Ashtanga, Vinyasa [inspired by Ashtanga and Jivamutki yoga], Restorative, and Yin Yoga.
